Advantages
  • Allows participants to focus on most critical DMAIC and Lean concepts and tools

  • Shortens cycle to teach entire DMAIC process

  • Allows Black and Green Belts to be trained together and to work in teams on projects

  • Green Belts can "upgrade" to Black Belt level through Phase 2

  • Especially useful when existing data is sparse and/or participants are not yet ready for advanced analysis
  • Allows participants to apply rigorous Six Sigma and statistical tools to an entire DMAIC project

  • Excellent training for individuals with strong analytical aptitude and/or previous experience

  • Especially appropriate for projects and processes with rich data and need for more intensive analysis

Generally, the Phased approach is the best choice for service/transactional processes and people, while the Integrated model is recommended for Manufacturing and many Engineering processes and groups.
