Certified Black Belt & Green Belt candidates must have a thorough understanding of DMAIC concepts, and must be able to apply the tools to practical business projects.
Certified Green Belt Requirements
- Core Skills Online Exam
Closed-book exam, covering the basic concepts and tools of DMAIC.
Passing score of 70% or above on each section of the Exam.
- Successful Project Completion and Review
The candidate will submit a storyboard for their completed project. An evaluator will conduct an oral project review, during which the candidate will answer questions about project activities and results.
Certified Black Belt Requirements

Open-book exam that requires statistical software (e.g., Minitab) to solve case example questions and demonstrate knowledge of DMAIC advanced tools.

The candidate will submit a storyboard for their completed project. An evaluator will conduct an oral project review, during which the candidate will answer questions about project activities and results.
Candidates must demonstrate their skills in applying DMAIC to practical business issues. As such, it is expected that they successfully complete at least one DMAIC improvement projects.
